Treats of the Week

Hello, my beauties.
I’ve been trying out some new things recently so thought I would tell everyone about how brilliant they all are.
First on my list is the somewhat boring discovery of Kara Dairy Free drink. Dairy and my stomach are not the best of friends, but I cannot go a day without fantasizing about a strong, blue cheese. I’ve been living on soy products these last few months but I do try to avoid soy as it isn’t the best alternative. I am glad to finally have found something that doesn’t taste like sake and isn’t expensive.

21 Jump Street

This week I took a long overdue trip to the cinema and saw 21 Jump Street. When it was first described to me as a Cop Comedy I was a little put off as I instantly expected lots of shouting, running around and guns being fired. However, I watched the trailer and actually laughed a few times so I decided to give it a shot. I love the pairing of Seth Rogen and Channing Tatum because they are both really funny and both really quite charming. Channing Tatum is also bloody gorgeous, but we knew that. This film follows the format of the television show by the same name in which young looking policemen are sent undercover into high schools to undercover crimes. Surprisingly, the film doesn’t feel like an attempt to cash in on the fame of something else. This film is really funny in its own right. It is also very clever and, strangely, socially aware.

Yangshuo, South China

I thought I’d write about something a little different today and go across the globe. Two years ago I was lucky enough to live in China for several months. During my time there I had a chance to travel around and saw some amazing places. To start off my China documentation I’m going to write about my favourite place which was Yangshuo. It is situated in the more rural, green landscapes of south west China. Yangshuo is situated in the area of the city Guilin which is the main transport link to the town. To access this area we flew from Beijing and then took a cheap one hour bus ride from Guilin to Yangshuo. The first thing that struck me was the breathtaking landscape. Most people will recognise it from tourism pictures and a HSBC television advertisement was filmed here several years ago. The area is best known for its iconic karst peaks.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 and Face Touch Up Stick

I recently purchased Bobbi Brown’s Skin Foundation as after using Clinique’s Superbalanced Foundation for about five years I felt it was time for a change. I did my time, I did my research and did my sampling and finally booked an appointment with a Bobbi Brown consultant. I think it was probably one of the best decisions I made in the last few months. She was absolutely brilliant and cleansed, toned and moisturised my face. She also kindly put an intensive moisturiser on some dry patches I’ve been having trouble with. Pleasingly, all Bobbi Brown facial products have primer in them so instantly I was craving the entire collection. My skin was matched to the shade Sand. At first I was apprehensive that it seemed a bit on the yellow side after several weeks of using it I am very pleased with it.

Glossybox March 2012 Harrods edition review

Hey hey hey. I got my Harrods edition Glossbox on Monday and have been trying out the products throughout the week. Just the packaging and the iconic Harrods ribbon inside was enough to send me giddy, let along the products inside. The goodies I got were:
  •   Versace – Vanitas Versace Eau De Parfum
  •  Bliss – Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter
  •  Révive - Intensité Crème Lustre SPF 30
  •  Lancôme – Juice Tubes, Toffee R’n’B 93
  •  Clarins – Extra-Firming Body Cream

Originally, I was a little disappointed as this is the second time I have received two products aimed at older skin in my Glossbox. Clearly they are not considering the age categories of their subscribers, but I’ll let it go for now.

Demiro's Restaurant at Cardiff Bay

Demiro's Restaurant

Demiro’s
Situated in the centre of the modernised Cardiff Bay this restaurant is definitely not one to be missed. If I were to choose one word to describe this restaurant it would have to be atmospheric. The décor is simplistic; with hints of old school glamour. You may even be seated on one of their long bench-like tables, forcing you to befriend the people next to you. For many this sounds like a nightmare, but in the spirit of the restaurant it only serves to improve your night. A meal at Demiro’s is not just dinner, it’s an experience. The biggest part of your experience at Demiro’s is the live entertainment. On the night I attended

Welcome. Welkom. Bienvenue. Wilkommen. Aloha. Croeso.

Welcome
Well hello. As a way of throwing out my ramblings, ideas and reviews I’m going to put them all here so that those who live with and around me will no longer be dulled by them and can find them here instead, if they so choose. A word of warning through, my interests are wide-ranging , fleeting and rarely conventional so if it’s coherence you’re looking for you’re in the wrong place.
Let’s start it off with a new discovery in my life.
